Thoughtful Thursday – December 12, 2024
December 12
Here’s How It Works:
Each month, the Tavern will be featuring three different charities.
Come to Manor Hill Tavern any Thursday & get a wooden token (one per person) with ANY Purchase.
On your way out, drop your wooden token in the charity box of your choice.
At the end of the month, we’ll tally up the wooden tokens given to each charity and make a donation to each cause.
Most Tokens = $150, 2nd $100, 3rd $50!
This Month’s Charities:
Michael J’s Toy Mountain & Toys for Tots
MISSION: The basic mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Program is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas.
GOAL: The primary goal of Marine Toys for Tots is, through the gift of a new toy, help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America’s less fortunate children.
FOUNDATION OVERVIEW: The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity which was created at the behest of the U. S. Marine Corps in 1991.
97% of every donation goes directly to providing toys to children.
Community Action Council (Food Drive)
We resolve to meet our community’s needs quickly, strategically, thoughtfully, and always with compassion. We strive to actualize opportunities within reach of the families we serve. By layering our five critical services of early childhood education, energy assistance, food assistance, housing assistance, and weatherization assistance, we guide a family from crisis to stability and ultimately to self-sufficiency. This can help create a pathway through and out poverty or just provide a hand up when one is needed. No matter who seeks our services or why, our priority is always Howard County families’ long-term stability.
Grassroots Crisis Intervention
Grassroots provides free 24-hour crisis intervention, mental health, substance use disorder, housing support and suicide prevention services. This includes a free crisis hotline, responses to 988 calls/chats/texts (Maryland and nationally), a free 24-hour substance use disorder stabilization program, a family and individual emergency shelter and Howard County’s Mobile Crisis Response.
